Chuck Pinkney is a retired Law Enforcement Officer with 33 years of experience, 2 years in Minnesota and 31 years with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. Chuck also served Honorably in the U.S. Army National Guard for 6 years and 2 years in the U.S. Army Reserves. For more than 26 years Chuck has been a High Liability Instructor with expertise in Defensive / Tactical Driving, Defensive Tactics, and Firearms Instruction, training and instructing Law Enforcement Officers, Corrections Officers, and academy level students at the Sarasota Criminal Justice Academy in Sarasota, Florida. Chuck also instructs classes on Women’s Rape and Assault Prevention / Women’s Self Defense. These classes are taught through his personal business and the Sarasota County Technical College Adult Community Education Program.
When the State of Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) set out to re-write the Basic Recruit Curriculum for Law Enforcement and Corrections Officers, Chuck was recognized as a Subject Matter Expert in Firearms, Driving and Defensive Tactics and assisted in re-writing the curriculum.
Chuck was a member of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team for 14 years, serving as a Squad Leader and Grenadier. The primary missions for the team were Search and Rescue, Civil Disturbance / Riot Control, Evidence Collection and Preservation, Active Shooter Response, and direct support for the SWAT team. Other specialized training on the Emergency Response Team was Helo Operations / Tactical Insertions, Marine Patrol Operations / Tactical Insertions, and Open Water Rescue. Other units Chuck was a member of were Patrol, Training Unit, K-9 Unit, Honor Guard, Parks Patrol, Mounted Patrol, and the Community Policing Bike Team.
